User Group Summary

Unfortunately, as the sun set on the summer solstice on the beach at Westward Ho! we did not see a fabled green flash. However, there are several outcomes we can share with everyone!

First, we heard loud and clear, companies prefer fewer releases. So rather than a release version 2.3 in June, a later release towards the end of this year with more features is planned. Error bars on plots, along with many other new features will be appearing on a screen near you soon.

Longer term, a tool that helps you generate interpretation reports and summarise data more easily was the second priority. We are interested in the common and repetitive aspects of the reports that are generated at the end of a project. We’ll be reaching out about this in the future, so if there’s something you include in all your reports, please let us know and we can hopefully make it easier to produce!

The third priority was box and whisker plots for comparing statistics across different sample groupings and next came improving the treatment of stratigraphy, making it simpler to populate the geological context of the sample data.

The development of the PVT property model for geochemist has been a long-term goal for IGI came in as the fifth priority. In the next release of the software, the property model has been extended to be able to capture more PVT data. We’ll also be supporting more PVT related graphs and artefacts.

We are announced a new PVT foundation partnership for clients who want to use Metis to manage PVT data and encourage collaboration between exploration and production. There’s an article here.

Attendees also wanted to be able to import grids and show these as georeferenced images on maps.

More autographs with reference links to ig.net are also important to everyone. An exciting new feature in version 2.3 of the software allows IGI to release new auto-artefacts without the software being updated. So let us know if there’s a graph, or any other type of artefact, you would like to see and we’ll add it to the list!

As always, we don’t disappear for a year, we’re always available to discuss priorities and features. If there’s something we’re missing that you want to discuss drop us an email.
