p:IGI+ version 1.2.1 release

We are delighted to announce that the latest p:IGI+ release, version 1.2.1, is available for download. This version builds upon our July operational release with a range of new and improved features, bug fixes and system stabilisation steps.  We encourage you to evaluate this release version for use within your company and provide feedback to us as you see fit.

Version 1.2.1 includes the following new user features:

  • Import: During import of data you are now prompted to specify datum’s for the samples and wells (absolute datum for the well) if they are not set in the import via linking properties: MD datum.Samples, TVD datum.sample & Abs datum.Well. This is designed to increase efficiency in project set-up and ensures depth plots will work more readily after data import.
  • Harmonise: The harmonise dialogue has been upgraded enabling you to standardise data entries across all text columns (not just those with associated pre-defined codelists). Along with application access from the Data drop down menu, harmonise can be accessed via right click from any text column header. *Note we are still working on this a little to support undo as you go along, which will be included in the next release planned for January 2017.
  • Sample sets: In addition to dynamic sample sets p:IGI+ now allows the creation, edit and removal of Static sample sets. With easy of creation from both graphs and spreadsheets, static sample sets improve on and replace the sample bucket concept previously present in p:IGI-3. You can view, name your static sample sets, add and remove from them and edit data contained in them by applying them to a page.
  • Maps: Users now have the ability to import [Lat, Long] format shapefiles into the integral mapping tool. This provides project wells a vital regional geological context esp. in offshore settings. *Note at present:
      1. Individual shapefile size is limited to 10Mb.
      2. A maximum of 10 shapefiles can be imported to anyone project as large numbers of shapefiles will slow mapping performance.
      3. Shapefiles are not stored (on save) so will be lost if the project is closed.
  • Graph Manager: Users can right click from any graph to access graph manager. This provides users a smoother workflow path to manage and interact with plots.
  • Graphs – Histograms: Two zoom to data options have been added to histograms:
      1. Zoom adjust to only the y-axis data range
      2. Zoom adjust to both the y-axis data range and data binning range.

-   Default histogram binning has been improved to give more sensible initial bin intervals

  • Autographs: An improved autograph preview is now provided to ensure a visually representative presentation of interpretation graphs

Bug fixes

We've fixed a number of issues in version 1.1.3 of p:IGI+ making the system more robust:

  • Issues relating to Undo/Redo behaviour associated with graph overlays, graph creation and applying sample sets and palettes to graphs have been resolved.
  • The geothermal conversion equation from °C/km to °C/100m has been corrected.
  • A number of import behavioural traits related to defining the initial excel data file structure have been resolved.

Looking forward we are continuing to work based off your feedback and are currently prioritising the following developments with a planned release of January 2017:

  • Overlays and axis edit for Triplots;
  • Support for Line plots and an associated new graph type; the Parallel Coordinate Plot
  • Improved geochemical Property Search functionality across the application
  • Import support for well manager files containing bulk stratigraphy and well metadata
  • Property model improvements to the VR analysis group

We believe that version 1.2.1 of p:IGI+ will continue to support preliminary ‘screening geochemistry’ workflows, and are working towards ensuring future versions cover more workflows, more completely. If you are however not working on such a project but wish to explore and test p:IGI+ then an example demo project is available for download from our website.

We’d welcome any feedback you have on p:IGI+, and note that there is a developing online user guide. We intend to develop sections of the user guide as questions arise. There is also a support site which contains some frequently asked questions and can be used to request specific support, along with the email support@igiltd.com.
